This medicine contains the active ingredient Nicergoline which is an ergot alkaloid derivative. Nicergoline stimulates the blood flow and metabolic activity of brain cells which reduces vascular resistance and prevents blood clots. Beside this, this medicines has an impact on preventing stroke, maintains brain health and function, and helps restore reduced intellectual abilities in the elderly (impaired concentration, memory, orientation). Sometimes it is also used as a supportive therapy for senile dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, migraines and eye problem.

Is Nicergoline suitable for me?

Nicergoline is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it

• If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Nicergoline or to any of the other ingredients in this medicine
• if you have recently had a heart attack,
• If you have severe bleeding,
• If your heart is beating very slowly (bradycardia)
• If you are prone to fainting,
• If you have orthostatic hypotension
• If you are taking sympathomimetics (medicines commonly used to treat asthma, certain heart rhythm disorders, and certain eye diseases)
•  If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:

• are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breast-feeding
• have renal or hepatic impairment,
• have gout (gout) or taking medication for gout
• have or have ever had scars binder (the so-called fibrotic reactions) in the area of ​​the heart, lungs or abdomen
• are an elderly patient

Nicergoline interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Nicergoline?

This medicine is available in form of a film-coated tablet.

You should take Nicergoline exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist.

The usual dose is 1 to 2 coated tablets taken 3 times per day (30 to 60 mg daily).

Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Also, this medicine works best if there is a constant amount in the blood. To help keep this amount constant, do not miss any doses and take the medicine at the same time each day. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose. • Dry mouth, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea
• Increased urination
• Redness of the face, skin rash, excessive sweating
• Increased appetite
• Low blood pressure
• Transient hot flushes, fatigue
• Hypersensitivity reactions (Urticaria)
