SINODERM N

The active substance in this medicine are fluocinolone and neomycin. Fluocinolone belongs to a group of products known as topical corticosteroid which enters the cells and prevents the release of inflammatory substances. It is prescribed to relieve symptoms of skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis, which are manifested as inflammation, redness, swelling and itching. Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to stop several bacterial infections by destroying bacteria and preventing their growth. This medicine is prescribed for the treatment of skin diseases that have signs of secondary bacterial infections such as eczema in adults and children, including atopic and discoid eczema, prurigo nodularis, lichen simplex and lichen planus, seborrheic dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, psoriasis, reactions to insect bites, sunburn, with or without infection.

Is Sinoderm N suitable for me?

Sinoderm N is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it

• if you are allergic to fluocinolone, neomycin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
• if you have acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, perianal / genital pruritus (intense itching in the anus or genitals)
• if you have the primary viral infection of the skin (varicella, herpes simplex)
• if you have primary bacterial or fungal infection of the skin, tuberculosis of the skin
• if you have allergy to iodine
• if you have inflammatory rash around the mouth, perioral dermatitis
• if you have perianal and genital pruritus (severe itching in the genital area and the anus)
• to treat outer ear canal, if you have a perforated membrane of the ear
• to treat diaper rash
• if you have skin sores due to syphilis
• if you have skin sores due to tuberculosis
• if you have extended psoriasis with plaques
• if you have ulcerations of the skin
• if it is meant for children under one year
• if you are suffering from myasthenia gravis

In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:

• have adrenal gland disorder
• have diabetes
• have kidney problems
• have large sores, broken skin, or severe skin injury
• have measles, chickenpox, or tuberculosis
• have hardening or thinning of the skin
• have recently been vaccinated or you have had a positive tuberculin skin test
• are pregnant or breast-feeding

Sinoderm N interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Sinoderm N?

This medicine is available in form of a cream/ointment, and it is for the EXTERNAL USE ONLY.

You should use Sinoderm N only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Read the information leaflet provided with your medication for additional information.

• The cream is used if the affected areas of your skin are moist or weeping, and the ointment if your skin is dry.
• Apply a thin layer of this medicine to the affected area 1 or 2 times a day.

Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor ordered. Do not apply a double dose to make up for forgotten individual doses.

What are Sinoderm N side effects?

Like all medicines Sinoderm N can cause side effects, including:

• mild itching, burning, scaling or dryness of the skin
• thinned, soft, sensitive skin
• rash or skin irritation around the mouth
• increased hair growth
• changes in skin color at the site of administration
• blisters, pimples or cracking
• stretch marks
• toxic effects on hearing or kidneys
• neuromuscular blockade
• allergic reaction
