YURINEX

This medicine contains the active ingredient Bumetanide which belongs to a group of medicines called diuretics, also known as water tablets. These medicines cause the kidneys to produce more urine, and in that way they free your body from retaining the amounts of water higher than needed. Bumetanide is prescribed for the treatment of edema (water retention caused by heart failure). This condition causes swelling in the tissues of your lungs, feet or ankles.

Is Bumetanide suitable for me?

Bumetanide is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it

• if you are allergic to Bumetanide or to other ingredients of this medicine
• If you have sugar intolerance
• If you have kidney problems
• If you have problems with levels of urea or certain salts in your blood
• If you are taking lithium

In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:

• have diabetes
• have liver or prostate problems
• are vomiting or have diarrhea
• are pregnant or breast-feeding

Bumetanide interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Bumetanide?

This medicine is available in form of a tablet.

You should take Bumetanide exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist.

The usual dose is one 1 mg tablet a day, but your dose may be changed according to your needs. If you need a higher dose you may be prescribed the 5 mg tablets for you. If you are taking more than one tablet a day, you may need to take them in two or more doses.

Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose. What are Bumetanide side effects?

Like all medicines Bumetanide can cause side effects, including:

Common side effects:

• Feeling sick.
• Indigestion, stomach pain
• Rash, itching skin

Other side effects:

• Bruising or bleeding more easily
• Swollen or painful breasts
• Muscle and bone pain
• joint pain
• Headache, hearing disturbance
• thirst, dry mouth
• feeling tired, dizzy or faint
