INDAP

This medicine contains of the active ingredient Indapamide which belongs to a group of medicines called diuretics, also known as water tablets. These medicines cause the kidneys to produce more urine, and in that way they free your body from retaining the amounts of water higher than needed. Indapamide does not highly increase the amount of produced urine, but it widens blood vessels. It is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).

Is Indapamide suitable for me?

Indapamide is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it

• if you are allergic to Indapamide or to other ingredients of this medicine
• if you have liver disease
• if you have Hepatic Encephalopathy
• If you have serious kidney problems
• If you have too little potassium in your blood

In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:

• have diabetes
• have liver or kidney problems
• have gout
• have hearth rhythm problems or hearth disease
• are pregnant or breast-feeding.

 Indapamide interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Indapamide?

This medicine is available in form of a capsule.

You should take Indapamide exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist.

The usual dose is one capsule taken once a day.

Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose. Read the information leaflet provided with your medication for additional information. Talk to your doctor if you have any additional questions.

Like all medicines Indapamide can cause side effects, including:

• low potassium in the blood
• muscle weakness

Uncommon

• vomiting
• skin rashes
