SINEDOL

This medicine contains three active ingredients, 500IU of sodium heparin, 25 mg of dexpanthenol and 150 mg of dimethylsulfoxide. Heparin belongs to the group of medicines known as anti-coagulants. Dimethylsulfoxide allows faster penetration of heparin through the skin and thus enhances its action, and it is also effective against inflammation, pain and swelling of tissue.  Dexpanthenol is rapidly converted in skin cells to pantothenic acid (precursor of vitamin B5). Pantothenic acid plays a part in both the formation and the regeneration of the skin.

This medicine is used at sports and other injuries (such as bruises, sprains and strains) and diseases such as bursitis and tendovaginitis (inflammation of the tendon sheath). Also, this gel can also be used for disorders of the peripheral veins, such as thrombophlebitis (veins inflammation associated with thrombus formation), varicose veins, and the consequential changes in the skin, as well as neuropathic pain and acute inflammation in the shoulder joint region.

Is Sinedol suitable for me?

Sinedol is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it

• if you are allergic to heparin, dimethylsulfoxide, dexpanthenol, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
• if you suffer from bronchial asthma
• if you are pregnant or breast-feeding
• if you have liver or kidney damage regardless of the cause
• if you have lupus erythematosus (a disease of the skin)
• medicine should not be used in children under the age of 5 years

In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:

• are pregnant or breastfeeding
• notice an allergic reaction on your skin
• have open wounds

Sinedol interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Sinedol?

This medicine is available in form of gel.

You should take Sinedol exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist.

• The gel is applied twice daily to the affected area in a thin layer without rubbing it in. After application of the gel, the skin surface should not be covered with a bandage.

Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Do not miss any doses and apply the medicine at the same time each day.

What are Sinedol side effects?

Like all medicines Sinedol can cause side effects, including:

• nausea, vomiting
• diarrhea
• constipation
• loss of appetite
• urticaria
• angioneurotic edema (sudden emergence of localized swelling that usually affects the face or neck)
• thrombocytopenia (reduced blood platelet counts)
• inflammation
• tingling, itching, erythema (redness)
• hives and blistering
• short-term change in the sense of taste
• allergic sensitization
